-1959: became internally self-governing,then joined Malaysia in 1963 Became independant in 1965.

-650 km2, 3.5 million inhabitants.After birth control policy, government now encourages the "three-child"family model.

-Gvt based on Westminster system, but with little freedom of the press.Criticism of the government is repressed.

-Economy is based on trade,shipping,banking,tourism and high tech.One of the most affluent countries in asia.

-My impression: Singapore has been the first asian land I touched,after fleeing VN.It will always remind me of the world of discovery and innocent pleasure of life.It has also been a hub for a lot of travelling, and that's where I have spent some of the happiest moment of my life...
